Rizwanullah at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Contrary to what the title might suggest, ‘ Depression Chic’ by Syed Rizwanullah was all about the jollity that follows after gloom.
It signified the optimism that engulfs the soul in the face of tribulations. The sayings of Maulana Jalaluddin Roomi, the great mystic poet, that life is a dream and we should dream well, and the strong individuals that do not crumble when life plays a melancholic tune stirred Rizwanullah’s soul and these exquisite pieces of workmanship came into being.
For this collection, Rizwanullah made his own fabric illumining his creativity through patchwork and the use of blacks and whites, stripes and checks. He has used the local fabric such as cotton and chiffon to create ensembles sans embroidery, yet in perfect harmony with the theme making a statement through cuts and patterns. The collection presents an ingenious amalgamation of fabric, with inventive cuts and style, testimony of his penchant for flowing against the tide.
