There is a lot of talk on the internet about cricket star Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma getting engaged on the first day of 2017. The talk started after the couple went to Dehradun with their respective families. As a part of the news break ,a picture of Anushka performing puja at a local temple was also on the net.
Whether it is fake or otherwise is a matter of conjecture.Added to this is the movement of Amitabh Bachchan who also landed at Dehradun’s Jolly Grant airport yesterday. This triggered speculations further and the gossip was that if Sr Bachchan is one of the first guests to make it to the engagement,something is in the offing. However developments and denials say that there’s no truth to any such thing happening. As for Kohli ,he has rubbished the engagement rumours.
In order to put an end to all the speculations, Virat tweeted, “We aren’t getting engaged & if we were going to,we wouldn’t hide it. Simple.. Since news channels can’t resist selling false rumours & keeping you confused, we are just ending the confusion.” Not to mention, Anushka’s spokesperson too released a similar official statement this morning saying, “The rumours surrounding Anushka and Virat’s engagement are untrue. Many are saying that Virat is set to become the brand ambassador of Uttarakhand tourism and was personally invited by Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
The CM wished him and Anushka a happy stay in his state. A grand bash has been planned for New Year’s Eve which will be attended by all the celebs in town.” With this clarification coming to the fore ,many things stand clarified .That includes the arrival of Amitabh Bachchan in Dehradun. While Virat’s tweet gives an assurance that the couple is very much together. It’s left to see when will they officially take their relationship to the next level. This is not likely to happen in early 2017.
