6th Lahore International Children’s Film Festival World’s best films made for, by and about children Presenting 169 films from 47 countries Date: 10th – 15th November, 2014 Morning and Evening shows Venues: Cinepax Cinema, Fortress Square, A total of 169 films for children from 45 countries has been screened. The Screenings hold young audience captivated. Films made by children, for a young audience, will be screened at Cinepax Cinema, while films featuring children as protagonists will be screened at Faiz Ghar.
The ceremony also screened a show reel of the officially selected short films made by the students from Lahore Grammar School, Johar Town, LACAS Burki campus, Azam Garrison and Beaconhouse National University. The films made by the efficient students were awarded with certificates; the prizes were also distributed by the guests.
The work of students were greatly applauded by the students of other educational institutions namely Salamat School System, the Army Public School, Lahore Grammar School and the Scarsdale International School. The students attended the morning screenings of the festival at Cinepax Cinema.
“The bigger question is whether we value the arts… we (as society) need to inculcate an attitude supportive of such cultural events.” Festival Director Shoaib Iqbal. TLA’s project coordinator, Awais Shafiq, said several schools were registering for the screenings. The list of schools registering for the festival will be updated daily, Shafiq said.
“We are looking at greater participation from various schools in the coming days,” he said. Bobby, a Tunisian film, narrating the friendship between a boy and his dog, had the young audience ooh-and-aahing throughout its duration.
Exiting the venue, laughing and joking with his friends, 10-year-old Faraz said he had loved the experience.
“It was so much fun. I hadn’t seen these films before,” he said.
The festival will close on November 15. The details of festival on the following venues are as follows:
