Social media personality Dr Nabiha Ali Khan has reportedly sent khula papers to her husband, Haris Khokhar, bringing their troubled marriage back into the public spotlight.
A video shared through a lawyer’s social media account shows Dr Nabiha signing legal documents and placing her thumb impressions on them. An emotional voice-over can be heard in the background.
The post was captioned “Khula ke papers bhijwa diye Haris Khokhar ko” (Khula papers have been sent to Haris Khokhar). Text displayed in the video read: “Mujhe dhoka mila hai. (I have been deceived)”.
In the accompanying voice-over, Dr Nabiha criticised men who allegedly betray their wives while treating other women with respect and kindness. Referring to the increasing number of divorce and khula cases, she argued that women do not approach courts or seek separation without a reason.
She also said women should not automatically be blamed when marriages break down, adding that they have the right to distance themselves from husbands who are cruel or unfaithful.
In another video shared through journalist Mian Saad Farzeen’s platform, Dr Nabiha addressed speculation surrounding her marriage. She confirmed that she had sought khula and said that a legal divorce notice was subsequently issued.
Dr Nabiha further alleged that she experienced abuse during the marriage. She also claimed that Haris had married her partly to gain social media attention and public recognition, which she said he eventually received.
She shared a recording of a phone call that, according to her, contained abusive language directed at her by Haris. The allegations and the authenticity or context of the recording have not been independently verified. Haris has not publicly responded to the latest claims.
Dr Nabiha and Haris married in November 2025. Their nikah was officiated by religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil.
Reports of tension between the couple emerged within months of the marriage. During a television appearance earlier this year, Dr Nabiha said that the relationship was facing serious difficulties. She alleged that Haris’s behaviour had changed under the influence of his family.
Haris responded publicly at the time, describing Dr Nabiha as his “izzat” and denying the allegations made against him and his family.
The couple appeared to reconcile in March after attending a public gathering together. However, the reconciliation reportedly lasted only a few months.
Dr Nabiha later filed a khula petition in family court, alleging verbal abuse and physical mistreatment. Haris had not issued a public response to the petition when it was filed.
