Veteran actor Waseem Abbas has confirmed that he and actress Saba Hameed are no longer together, revealing that their marriage officially ended after nearly three decades.
The two stars, long regarded as one of the most respected couples in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, were admired for their work both individually and together. Their on-screen presence, experience and contribution to television made them a well-known pair among audiences. However, Waseem has now clarified that their real-life relationship had ended years before the divorce became official.
Speaking about his second marriage, Waseem said that his relationship with Saba lasted 29 years. He revealed that although the legal divorce happened after nearly three decades, the two had already been separated for 14 years. During that time, they were not living together as husband and wife.
Waseem explained that despite the separation, they maintained a respectful equation. He said they continued to meet occasionally, worked together when required, and even went out for dinner as friends at times. According to him, there was no bitterness between them, and they could still share the screen if a suitable project came their way.
The actor made it clear that there were no hard feelings after the divorce. He said he was not hurt by the end of the marriage because, by that point, there were no emotional expectations left in the relationship. Waseem also mentioned that he and Saba did not have children together, which may have made the separation less complicated in practical terms.
Reflecting on the relationship, Waseem said he has always valued respect more than love. For him, mutual respect remained more important than anything else, and he believed the decision to part ways was the right one. He also stressed that neither he nor Saba speaks negatively about the other, adding that they have never chosen to bad-mouth each other publicly.
While discussing whether he considered his second marriage a mistake, Waseem said he did not see it that way. However, he admitted that in hindsight, perhaps it may have been one.
