KARACHI – The Pakistani showbiz industry has been shaken by a storm of accusations, legal threats, and viral outrage following serious misconduct allegations against television producer Umer Mukhtar, who is known to be a close friend of actress Hania Aamir.
The controversy ignited when model Mahnoor Rahim took to social media on February 18 and 19, 2026, claiming that a man had been sending inappropriate messages to strangers, including underage girls. While she initially refrained from naming the individual, social media users quickly began speculating.
In a follow-up post, Mahnoor confirmed the identity, and the situation exploded online. Soon after, several other women allegedly came forward, sharing similar experiences. These allegations rapidly spread across Instagram and other online platforms, sparking widespread public outrage.
Amid growing backlash, Hania Aamir was called out for her association with Umer Mukhtar. In response to mounting pressure, Hania distanced herself from Mukhtar, stating that she had no knowledge of the alleged misconduct. She emphasized that she fully supports women who speak out against abuse.

Despite her clarification, the public’s reaction remained heated. Umer Mukhtar, breaking his silence, firmly denied the accusations, calling them “false” and defamatory. Through his legal team, he issued a comprehensive legal notice, invoking Pakistan’s Defamation Ordinance, 2000, as well as the UK Defamation Act 2013.
The notice asserts that the claims are entirely fabricated and have caused significant reputational and financial harm. It argues that the allegations were presented as facts, not opinions, and are legally defamatory under both Pakistani and UK law. Mukhtar’s notice states that the “serious harm” threshold for legal action has been met, citing damage to his reputation, professional exclusion, financial losses, and enduring stigma.
The legal notice also warned that any deletion or manipulation of digital evidence following the notice would be treated as aggravating conduct in court. Mukhtar has given those involved seven days to remove all posts, comments, captions, and stories related to the allegations, publish a formal apology approved by his legal team, and confirm that no further defamatory content exists.
Despite this legal response, social media remains largely unsympathetic to Umer Mukhtar. Comment sections are filled with criticism, with some comparing the situation to international scandals and others urging the alleged victims to release evidence. Many also questioned why Mukhtar reacted so strongly, given that he had not been named initially.
