Pakistani-Canadian actress Armeena Khan has opened up about a deeply personal health battle, sharing a candid update while seated in a wheelchair. The actress posted a video on Instagram, showing her husband pushing her wheelchair as she revealed that a knee injury she suffered during pregnancy has worsened over time.
The Bin Roye star explained that she tore her meniscus while pregnant but was unable to prioritize her health during an emotionally overwhelming period. “I tore my meniscus during pregnancy and didn’t take care of it properly. I was a new mum living in survival mode, dealing with postpartum depression, the loss of a parent, a geno on my screen, and cancer scares. Eventually, my health deteriorated to a point where I could no longer ignore the problem,” she wrote.
Armeena Khan, 38, shared that medical scans later confirmed she required surgery. However, she initially chose a different path. She said she opted for “the painful, slow route of physiotherapy first,” hoping to recover without surgery. While there was some early improvement, the injury ultimately failed to heal.
During this difficult time, the actress continued working. She revealed that she even took on a small role in Meri Tanhai on HUM TV, despite ongoing pain and physical limitations. Khan said she gained weight, felt self-conscious, and was subjected to “extremely harsh” criticism.
“I avoided reading comments and focused on messages of support and positivity only. Time passed, and eventually, my knee started to get worse. Now, I’m waiting for ‘repairs’. InshaAllah, all will be well. I’m sharing this with you because I want to be open about my struggles, I want to post pictures without pretending, and talk about the journey,” she continued.
Khan emphasized that her decision to go public was not about seeking sympathy. Instead, she said it was about honesty and resilience. “I’m actively fighting battles and determined to get better,” she wrote, stressing that she wanted to show her “authentic self” rather than play the victim.
She concluded her message by thanking her supporters for their prayers, kindness, and encouragement. The actress also extended heartfelt support to others dealing with health challenges, reminding them that they are not alone.
Armeena Khan married British Pakistani businessman Fesyl Khan in 2020. The couple welcomed their daughter, Amelie Isla, in 2022. Her latest update has drawn widespread praise from fans for its honesty and vulnerability, with many applauding her strength during a physically and emotionally demanding chapter of her life.
