Nausheen Shah Opens Up About Removing Her Hijab And Shares Deeply Personal Faith Journey

Pakistani actress and model Nausheen Shah has spoken candidly about the personal and spiritual motivations behind her decision to stop wearing the hijab. In a recent podcast appearance, she reflected on the emotional struggle, inner conflict and spiritual clarity that shaped this turning point in her life.

Nausheen shared that she originally began wearing the hijab after experiencing a vivid dream that left a powerful impression on her. “I heard a voice in my dream saying that if you don’t cover your head, the angels will leave you. As soon as I woke up, I picked up the dupatta and wore it regularly for about four months,” she said. She explained that she wore it consistently, both during filming and at home.

Although the practice felt meaningful at first, she soon found herself wrestling with an internal contradiction. Nausheen said she began to feel as though she was living a double life—a feeling that pushed her to reevaluate her choice. This emotional conflict eventually led her to remove the hijab.

“I asked Allah for forgiveness and removed the hijab, even though I used to style it beautifully, and it felt nice to wear,” she shared. Her decision did not stem from rejection of the faith but from a desire to live authentically without the weight of inner turmoil.

The actress emphasised that her spiritual journey has continued to evolve. She explained that she turned to prayer as a source of guidance, asking for a deeper connection with Allah. “I prayed, ‘O Allah, call me towards you and if you love me, then bring me towards prayer.’ Allah accepted my prayer, and now I pray regularly,” she said.

Nausheen described prayer as a grounding force in her life, explaining that it brings structure, spiritual protection and a sense of peace. She noted that her journey is deeply personal and aimed at self-improvement rather than public perception.

Throughout the conversation, the actress highlighted that faith is not a uniform path and that personal experiences can guide believers through shifts in understanding and practice. While her decision to remove the hijab may spark discussion, Nausheen stressed that her spiritual evolution remains rooted in sincerity and her relationship with Allah.

Her openness about the challenges and choices involved offers a rare look into the private spiritual lives of public figures and adds a thoughtful perspective to ongoing conversations about personal faith and identity.
