‘I’m a big girl in a small-minded society’: Mathira Responds To Body Shaming After Runway Appearance And Defends Her Confidence

Television host and entertainer Mathira is pushing back against a wave of body shaming after a video of her recent runway appearance drew criticism from online trolls. The clip, taken during a wedding-themed fashion show where she appeared as a showstopper, spread quickly across social media and became the target of negative comments about her body.

Mathira reacted firmly after a news outlet shared the video. She reposted it on her Instagram Story and added her own message, saying, “I’ve seen several people talk about my body.” She made it clear that she is comfortable in her skin, writing, “I’m happy being healthy. I was invited to the showstopper, and I didn’t do anything wrong. But sick, mentally ill pages like this talk shit.”

She also spoke candidly about her personal health challenges, revealing that she has been dealing with medical issues behind the scenes. “I’ve had a knee operation, my thyroid issues have been a mess, and this is how people act? Shame on this page and many more people posting,” she wrote.

Despite the criticism, Mathira refused to let the comments undermine her confidence. “I will walk like a rule. This world is for me. I can happily say I’m a big girl in a small-minded society,” she declared. She ended her message by proudly calling herself “a healthy big girl in a small-minded world.”

Mathira walked the runway in a flowing silk outfit designed for the wedding season. While her appearance drew admiration from many, it also attracted trolls, prompting her decision to speak out.

The media personality has been in the public eye for more than a decade. She first gained widespread recognition in 2011 as the host of the late-night talk show Love Indicator, a program that made her one of Pakistan’s most talked-about television figures. She later hosted AAG TV’s Baji Online and expanded her career through music videos, fashion shoots, and numerous television appearances.

Over the years, she has featured in hit songs such as Piya Re and performed item numbers in films including Main Hoon Shahid Afridi and the Punjabi movie Young Malang. She also acted in the Geo Kahani drama Naagin and appeared in the 2019 film Sirf Tum Hi To Ho.

As Mathira continues to build her career, her latest response sends a clear message about embracing self-confidence and standing up to online hate.
