Samiya Hijab Blames Public for Her Bold Outfits After Backlash: “It’s Your Fault My Clothes Got Shorter”

TikToker and social media influencer Samiya Hijab has once again stirred controversy after claiming that the public is to blame for her choice of clothing. The influencer, who first gained attention after filing a case against her ex-fiancé for allegedly attempting to kidnap her, has been living in Dubai since reaching an out-of-court settlement in that case.

Samiya rose to fame in Pakistan as a vocal advocate for women’s rights and safety, earning widespread sympathy for her courage during the legal battle. However, her recent social media content has sparked backlash, with many accusing her of abandoning the values she once defended.

While in Dubai, Samiya has shared numerous pictures and videos showcasing her lifestyle, including outings, parties, and travel experiences. Her followers, however, were quick to criticize her for wearing what they called “revealing” and “bold” outfits. The criticism intensified over the past few weeks as her posts became more frequent and daring.

Responding to the backlash, Samiya posted a statement alleging that societal pressure and public judgment are responsible for how she now dresses. “People’s mindset is the reason my clothes have gotten shorter,” she said, adding that she left Pakistan and lives away from her mother because of the toxic environment and constant criticism.

Samiya also referenced social media personality Rajab Butt, saying that people never forgave him either, and insisted that the public, government, and society as a whole are responsible for the way she lives her life. “The whole society, government, and everyone are responsible for how I am living,” she said.

Her comments immediately went viral, triggering a new wave of debate online. Many social media users mocked her reasoning, calling it illogical and self-contradictory. One user wrote, “Wah shampy wah,” while another commented, “Now this is also our fault that you are wearing revealing clothes.” A third added, “This is a lack of accountability.”

Despite the criticism, some of her supporters defended her, saying she has the right to express herself freely and that women should not be shamed for their clothing choices.

Samiya Hijab’s latest statement has reignited discussions about the clash between modern self-expression and conservative societal expectations in Pakistan. Her transformation from an activist fighting for women’s safety to a figure at the center of controversy highlights the complex relationship between fame, public opinion, and personal freedom in the age of social media.
