Pakistan’s Most Googled People of 2016

The people of Pakistan are full of curiosity and keen about knowing and remaining updated about  what people are doing, saying, wearing and also their pursuits.

The global search engine Google is a favorite of millions of Pakistani’s and they indulge in search of varied information with utmost gusto and enthusiasm. In this regard Google Pakistan has released an interesting  list of most searched people that reflects on the people we have been interested in during the year 2016.While this list includes a number of people who have left the world, it also includes the current American elections.

The list has names of the ill-fated  Qandeel Baloch, the successfully elected  Donald Trump and even DJ Bravo (?!):

1) Qandeel Baloch

Qandeel Baloch became a social media sensation this year through her strip-tease offer to Shahid Afridi followed by an interaction with a leading cleric, Mufti Qavi and in the process the lecherous side of the Mufti went viral. Other details of her personal life that were highlighted were that at a certain stage she was married and had an offspring.

Famous, she did become but ended in dismay ,losing her life, although she managed to achieve the status of number one searched person.

2) Amjad Sabri

Amjad Sabri was murdered in cold blood on June 22, 2016 in a crowded place in Karachi. No doubt he had a large fan following and his fervent fans who revered his work kept his memory alive by searching into the digital archives of his vast repertoire of work.

3) Abdul Sattar Edhi

The country  lost its biggest hero ,when philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away after a long illness on July 8, 2016. The tributes were there in millions and the stream of tributes was endless.

4) Donald Trump

Donald Trump is a man of the super-rich category and after a hot election and some persuasive tactics and effective campaign trails ,he achieved what he set out to do. He got elected as the President of the United States of America. And all through the election race he kept the people engaged with his  stance on race, minorities, immigrants and women.

5) Momina Mustehsan

The singer created an unbelievably huge melodious impact via her  most smashing debut on Coke Studio Season 9.She became a household celebrity not just for her singing skills, but also her smile. Men in their youth just fell for her but rumours about her engagement broke the internet, broken hearts and distress was apparent all around.

6) Pratyusha Banerjee

The Indian TV star committed suicide on April 1 2016. Her untimely death — she was just 24 — sparked interest in her life and work on this side of the border too.

7) Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton was already a world famous name even before she entered the race for Presidential election. In the course of the election activity ,she had an electrifying presence and the social media kept her presence right before our eyes.

8) Melania Trump

Melina Trump is now the first Lady. In the recent past she has been the subject of considerable criticism for giving a speech similar to Michelle Obama.

9) DJ Bravo

Dwayne Bravo more well known as  DJ Bravo is a Trinidadian cricketer and singer. His song   ‘Champion’ became an instant hit and coincided with which the victory of West Indies at the World Cup of Cricket.
