Veteran Pakistani actress Saba Hameed recently shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story from one of her dramas, revealing that she once had to slap fellow actor Hiba Bukhari for real during a scene. The senior performer opened up about the experience while appearing on Tabish Hashmi’s Ramzan special episode of Hasna Mana Hai.
Saba Hameed is one of the most respected figures in Pakistan’s television and film industry. With a career spanning nearly four decades, she has delivered countless memorable performances that audiences still remember today. Over the years, she has been part of many successful dramas, including Family Front, Mere Humsafar, Thakkan, Lashkara, Pyare Afzal, Ghisi Phiti Muhabbat, the Barat series, Sunn Mere Dil, Dil Lagi, Noor Jahan, and Laal Ishq.
More recently, she received praise for her role in Main Manto Nahi Hoon and is currently appearing in Geo TV’s drama Ishq Mein. Viewers have been appreciating her powerful performance in the ongoing show, once again highlighting her strong screen presence and acting skills.
During the conversation on the show, Saba Hameed spoke about a memorable moment from the drama Fitoor, where she had to perform a slap scene with actress Hiba Bukhari. According to her, she usually avoids slapping co-actors for real during filming and instead relies on acting techniques to make the scene look realistic.
Explaining how she normally handles such scenes, Saba said that experienced actors often “cheat” the shot so that no one actually gets hurt. However, in this particular case, the director wanted the moment to feel completely authentic on screen.
Sharing the incident, she said, “I don’t slap for real in dramas because I am a master of cheating the shot. But what can I do if the director keeps insisting that I perform a real slap scene for originality? It was his request, so I had to slap her. I did slap her and then apologized as well. It was actually quite a hard slap because I can’t cheat when I am asked to do it for real. It’s not a nice thing if it happens to any actor because, at the end of the day, it’s just for a role.”
Her candid story gave fans a glimpse into the realities of filming dramatic scenes and how actors sometimes have to go the extra mile to achieve realism. Despite the intensity of the moment, Saba made sure to apologize afterward, acknowledging that such scenes can be uncomfortable for actors even when they are part of the script.
