Tuba Anwar opens up about criticism and mental health in recent podcast interview

Syeda Tuba Anwar, a well-known Pakistani television actress and model, recently spoke candidly about the criticism she has faced in the public eye. Tuba, who gained widespread attention in June 2018 after her marriage to Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain, later made her mark in the entertainment industry as an actress.

Tuba began her acting career in 2021, and since then, she has earned praise for her performances in hit dramas such as Baby Baji, Bharras, Muhabbat Satrangi, and, more recently, Mohra and Pal Do Pal. Her acting skills have garnered her a loyal fanbase, with viewers lauding her diverse roles on screen.

In a recent appearance on Geo TV’s podcast, hosted by Mubashir Hashmi, Tuba addressed the criticism that has often surrounded her. She spoke openly about how she handles negative feedback and the public scrutiny of her personal life.

“You are referring to what has been said about me. I have never responded to criticism of my personal life because I simply don’t want to address it — it is private,” Tuba explained. “I keep it to myself and within my family. I only reveal parts of it that might benefit others, such as being vocal about depression and mental health. Silence does not mean I was wrong; it means I value my mental peace and prefer not to go there.”

Tuba emphasized that her focus has always been on maintaining her own well-being. “In my case, I focus on restoring my peace first, and then I think about facing people. For me, my family is most important, and I want to ensure they have a clear understanding of me,” she added.

The actress also shared insights into her acting choices, explaining how she enjoys playing negative characters, even though she is far from negative in real life. “There was a Geo TV drama serial Beylagaam in which I played a very negative character. I am not a negative person in real life, so I fulfill my passion of becoming a negative person in my dramas,” she said.

Tuba continued, “I get a lot of spice in my life through my characters. There was a drama where I played a negative role, which was titled Bichoo.”

Throughout the podcast, Tuba’s reflections on personal growth, mental health, and the challenges of public life resonated with listeners, offering a glimpse into the more private side of the actress’s journey.
