Actress Saba Qamar has announced that she will take legal action against journalist Naeem Hanif after he made serious allegations about her past in a recent video. The actress has strongly denied the claims, calling them false, baseless, and defamatory.
In a video shared on the RNN TV YouTube channel, journalist Naeem Hanif responded to Saba Qamar’s recent comments about Karachi. While he acknowledged that the actress had every right to like or dislike any city, he went on to make several personal accusations about her private life.
Hanif claimed that during the early 2000s, when he worked with Jang newspaper, Saba Qamar was allegedly living in a house on Walton Road in Lahore that was provided by a man she was in a relationship with but not married to. He further alleged that Saba did not fulfill her promises to that person, which later led to harassment.
According to Hanif, Saba Qamar approached the Jang office to file a harassment complaint at the time. He said that was the first time he met her and that the newspaper’s court reporter, Riaz Shakir, assisted her with the matter.
Hanif also mentioned that other actors, including Natasha Ali, would visit the Jang office around the same time with various complaints against producers and industry figures.
Following these accusations, Saba Qamar responded on Instagram, posting a screenshot of Hanif’s video and writing that the claims were entirely false. “Making false allegations against someone is a serious crime,” she stated. “I have never lived in Walton, and I have never done what this journalist has claimed.”
The actress condemned the statements as defamatory and disrespectful, confirming that she intends to pursue legal action against Naeem Hanif. “These baseless accusations will not be tolerated,” she added.
Saba Qamar, one of Pakistan’s leading television and film stars, has often been praised for her professionalism and resilience in the face of controversy. Her decision to take legal action signals her firm stance against what she describes as character assassination.
As of now, the journalist has not publicly responded to Saba Qamar’s statement or her plans for legal proceedings. Fans and industry colleagues have shown their support for the actress, applauding her for standing up against false and damaging claims.
