Ruby Anum issues a heartfelt apology after controversial remarks on Bushra Ansari

Stage actress Ruby Anum has issued a public apology to veteran star Bushra Ansari after facing widespread criticism for her recent comments about the actress’s age.

The controversy began when Rubi appeared on a podcast and remarked that Bushra Ansari should “take rest.” The statement quickly drew backlash from fans and fellow showbiz figures, who considered the remark disrespectful toward one of Pakistan’s most respected artists.

Bushra Ansari indirectly addressed the matter in her vlog, reflecting on the importance of language. “The misuse of words is the worst thing, but when used wisely, language can become the sweetest and best gift,” she said, in what many interpreted as a subtle response to the controversy.

Initially, Ruby Anum attempted to clarify her position in a video statement. She insisted that she had not intended to offend anyone and apologized to those who were upset. However, her critics noted that she did not directly apologize to Bushra Ansari, which only fueled further criticism.

In her latest message, Rubi took a more direct approach. Expressing regret and admitting her shame after being reprimanded by senior colleagues, she said: “If my words have hurt anyone, I sincerely apologise, especially to my seniors who love and support me.”

She also extended apologies to television host Amma, veteran actor Khalid Abbas Dar, and Mohsin Gilani. Rubi explained that podcast interviews are often edited in real time and that her spontaneous, playful comment was not meant to cause harm. “I am playful by nature,” she said, stressing that she did not speak negatively about anyone during the full interview.

Reaffirming her respect for senior artists, Rubi highlighted her bond with Bushra Ansari’s sister. “I have immense love and respect for Asma Abbas, and I could never even think of insulting her,” she stated. Rubi further emphasized that she has no desire to undermine others to advance her own career.

She concluded her message by turning attention to the broader struggles facing the nation. Offering prayers for Pakistan, Rubi said: “May Allah help our country overcome these difficult times,” particularly mentioning those affected by the devastating floods in Punjab.

The apology appears to be an effort to put an end to the backlash, though whether the controversy will fade remains to be seen. For now, Ruby Anum’s comments serve as a reminder of how quickly words can spark outrage in an industry where respect for senior artists is held in high regard.
