Dermatologist and public figure Dr Fazeela Abbasi has obtained a measure of legal relief after a court granted her interim bail in a case related to allegedly running an illegal clinic.
Dr Abbasi had approached the court seeking bail in the ongoing matter. Special Judge Central Humayun Dilawar heard her application and approved the interim bail, which will remain in effect until April 15. The bail was granted against a surety of Rs 50,000.
While granting the relief, the court also issued a directive that Dr Abbasi must remain available for further investigation, underscoring that the legal process in the case is still actively ongoing and that authorities retain the right to question her as proceedings move forward.
This is not the first time Dr Abbasi has found herself navigating the court system. The prominent dermatologist is already out on bail in a separate money-laundering case, meaning she is currently facing two distinct legal battles.
Both cases have been filed by federal agencies. One case was lodged by the FIA Money Laundering Cell, while the other was registered by the Anti-Corruption Circle. The dual nature of the cases points to a broader investigation into her professional and financial affairs, though she has not been convicted in either matter.
Dr Fazeela Abbasi, who is well known in Pakistan for her work in dermatology and her public commentary on health and social issues, has been at the centre of legal scrutiny for some time. Her supporters have maintained that she is being unfairly targeted, while authorities continue to pursue the cases through proper legal channels.
With the next hearing set for April 15, all eyes will be on how the illegal clinic case develops and whether the court extends her bail or makes a more definitive order. The money laundering proceedings are also expected to continue in parallel, keeping Dr Abbasi firmly in the legal spotlight in the weeks ahead.
