Emmad Irfani, a former model turned actor, has earned admiration for his selective approach to acting. Known for his memorable roles in hit dramas such as Jalan, Jaan e Jahan, and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, Irfani has managed to carve out a unique niche in the industry with his deliberate choice of projects. He recently sat down for an interview with Maliha Rehman to discuss his upcoming drama Kafeel, his career journey, and the personal loss of his young son, Zaviyar Emmad.
Irfani, who has always been a private person, opened up about the profound impact Zaviyar’s death had on him and his wife. He described his late son as a “blessing” for both of them. Though he rarely speaks about his grief, Irfani shared how Zaviyar’s memory continues to shape his life.
Reflecting on his career during the interview, he also spoke about the break he took from acting after working on the film Aasman Bolay Ga. Although the film was never released, Irfani sees that period of his life as a blessing in disguise. “I was just working on that film in Lahore for 3.5 years,” Irfani explained. “I didn’t take on any more work, and I didn’t fly to Karachi. Thus, I got to spend so much time with my son Zaviyar. I consider this a blessing.”

Irfani emphasized how this time away from work allowed him to be fully present for his son during precious moments. He added that while he continues to be selective in his acting roles, his priorities have always been clear. “I’m a part-time actor and a full-time father,” Irfani shared, quoting a sentiment he once expressed to renowned director Shoaib Mansoor.
In an industry where many actors juggle multiple projects, Irfani’s commitment to family stands out. His reflective approach to his career and his personal life, especially after the tragic loss of his son, has earned him respect not only for his work but also for his values. As he looks ahead to his role in Kafeel, it’s clear that his family will remain his top priority.
