Winter weakens the body’s immune system and increases the chances of illness. During this season, dried dates (chuhaaray) are a natural fruit that not only taste delicious but also offer many health benefits. The vitamin E and antioxidants in dried dates protect the skin from dryness and keep hair strong and shiny. They are excellent for dry winter skin and dandruff.
Dried dates are naturally very healthy, but when eaten with certain other foods, their benefits increase even more. Here are some of the best combinations and methods:
1. With Milk
The combination of dried dates and milk boosts energy in winter and strengthens the bones.
How to use:
Soak a few dried dates in water overnight. In the morning, blend them with milk and drink, or simply eat them with milk.
2. With Almonds and Walnuts
Almonds and walnuts provide protein and healthy fats. When eaten with dried dates, they support heart health, brain health, and immunity.
How to use:
Eat two to three dried dates with almonds and walnuts for breakfast.
3. With Yogurt or Lassi
Dried dates with yogurt are great for digestion. The probiotics help relieve constipation and keep the stomach healthy.
How to use:
Finely chop dried dates and mix them into yogurt, or blend them into a lassi.
4. In Juices or Smoothies
Blending dried dates with fruits like banana, apple, or guava increases vitamin and mineral intake.
How to use:
Blend 3–4 dried dates + 1 banana + 1 cup milk or yogurt + a little honey. Drink in the morning or evening.
5. In Tea or Herbal Drinks
Boil dried dates in plain or herbal tea. This helps soothe a sore throat and protects against cold and flu in winter.
6. Soaked in Water
Soaked dried dates are even more beneficial because soaking makes their nutrients easier for the body to absorb.
Note:
Do not eat too many. Five to six dried dates a day are enough.
