Luck is directed by Soham Shah, Produced by Dhilin Mehta, the film marks the debut of Shruti Haasan (Kamal Haasan’s daughter) and stars Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, Mithun Chakraborthy, Ravi Kisshen, Chitrashi and Danny Denzongpa.
The story of Luck is something like this that mafia king Kareem Musa (Sanjay Dutt) takes the game of betting to an altogether different level by involving humans as betting objects who are made to fight their own luck to survive.
Luck begins with an exciting opening sequence that gets your heart in your mouth watching a blindfolded Sanjay Dutt cross the multiple railway lines with trains running in fast speed. The remaining film is just a series of death-defying games which the players are made to play. In between, writer-director Soham Shah throws in some romance and some drama. But the film, Luck, keeps dipping and touching new lows in the second half.
The romantic track of Luck has not been given much attention, so it appears slack. The climax could have been winded up when Ram wins the jackpot since it was his utter goal. So why confronts Musa after the wins the game? It appears simply weird.
Amongst the star of Luck, sadly the young brigade disappoints whereas the veterans shine big time. Imran Khan though earnest, is most of the times expressionless. Shruti Haasan has a striking screen presence but needs a crash course in dialogue delivery.
Luck is a feast for adrenaline pumping edge of the seat cinema lovers. It is one of the slickest action thrillers to hit Indian screens. Action fans should not miss it.
