Sanam Agha at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Break the barriers of social expectations that fetter the classic eastern woman, let her soar high and identify her true worth – a message vehemently put forth through S2- Chrysalis by Sanam Agha.

The very concept was depicted through sheer fabric such as cotton, chiffon and georgette, with images of a woman in the form of art. The soft fabric represented femininity and the creative use of hand studs denoted the societal pressure. The ornamentation also reflected the wealth that created a façade for the public eye, veiling the society’s atrocious demeanor. The color palette flourished with luxurious hues that were in abundance in the beginning of the century such as royal blue, black gold, grey, burgundy, emerald green and deep purple. And to complement the theme, the outfits were accessorized with traditional silver jewellery such as pazaibs panjaglas and jhoomers.

While designing her fare, Agha gains inspiration from myriads of sources. From people to a color to an era, anything can inspire her to fashion an amazing outfit. It was the female resistance in the past, initiated to acquire freedom that motivated her to create S2 – Chrysalis, a collection that spells emancipation!
