Shehla Chatoor Showcased Oriental Inspired Collection in New Delhi Exhibition

The exclusive evening featured a large gathering of Indian socialites, designers and PFDC – the Boulevard’s loyal clientele. India’s top supermodels were selected to represent brand Shehla at this evening including Sonalika Sahay, Carol Gracias, Indrani Dasgupta and Krishna amongst others.

The event was a resounding success for the Pakistani designer as all outfits displayed at the exhibition sold out and further orders were taken for the label’s luxury pret and bridal collections. Shehla Chatoor’s collection of capes and saris were strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance and Oriental tapestry. The intricate designs featured fringes and oriental screen prints in mixed hues like beige with peaches, and beige with reds for her limited bridal trousseau. The ensembles also featured fused knee-length pale kurtis with busy-cropped slim-fit trousers offering a range of practical fashion in a balance of colours.

Speaking about her latest designs which have both Western and Oriental influences and her experience in New Delhi, Shehla Chatoor said: “The collection I have brought for this show is a representation of brand Shehla. I wanted Delhiites to see the versatility of my creations. Since I could not bring my entire studio here, I got a little bit of everything which is a part of my signature.

From intricately embroidered bridals and trousseau wear, a testament to Shehla’s revivalist, sophisticated and classy Eastern luxury pret, in-house printed capes and sarees and not to forget edgy Western wear." Shehla’s clothing lines are popular with celebrities and socialites alike and have been worn by media personalities such as Faryal Makhdoom, Ayesha Omar, Zoe Viccaji, Aamina Sheikh, Amna Ilyas, Anoushey Ashraf, Sara Loren, Nadia Hussain, Fauzia Aman and Humaima Malik and many others in the past. Humaima Malik also chose to wear a custom-made gold Shehla cocktail sheath dress accessorized with a dainty metallic gold chain belt in Abbas Hasan’s music video ‘Away’, which was produced by British artist Rishi Rich.

The Shehla Chatoor brand has a 18 year long legacy of fashion excellence and has become synonymous with elegance and finesse, creating a signature design aesthetic that transcends trends and seeks to revive the exquisite heritage of our age-old crafts. To this end stitching and embroidery techniques such as gara, marori, mukesh and zardozi, are all employed in Shehla’s Eastern collections.

Shehla’s Western wear is by contrast more contemporary, bold, cutting edge and glamorous. The SHEHLA label has design presence in Karachi, Mumbai, New Delhi, Dubai, London and Houston. The designer is also currently stocking at the Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) The Boulevard, a one-stop shop for Pakistani designer wear.

Shehla Chatoor held an exclusive exhibition where she showcased her bridal and trousseau collection, Eastern luxury pret, capes, sarees and edgy Western wear at PFDC - The Boulevard in New Delhi, India.
