Vidya Balan’s Begum Jaan Not Release in Pakistan?

Begum Jaan is a Hindi adaptation of National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji's Bengali film.

Vidya Balan has been receiving praises for her portrayal of a madam of a brothel in the 'Begum Jaan' trailer that was released early this month.

The film that is a Hindi adaptation of National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji's Bengali film, 'Rajkahini', is set in the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition.

Reports allege that the underlining plot - the Partition - is the reason why this film will not see the light of day in Pakistan.

Producer Mahesh Bhatt has even reportedly written to the Pakistan government to allow the release of the film. However, he has yet to receive their reply. Citing that Pak officials often bar films that portray the country in bad light, reports allege that 'Begum Jaan' might just suffer the same fate as films like 'Raees', 'Jolly LLB', 'Neerja', to name a few. The current political situation between the two nations is also cited as a reason for the film not getting its April 14 release in the country.
