KARACHI:  Pakistani entrepreneurs including multitalented music producers such as Rohail Hyatt are truly making a national and global impact.  Dawood Global Foundation (DGF) recently held the world class 2nd LADIESFUND Entrepreneurship Conference (LEC 2011) at Avari Karachi in which esteemed and influential Hyatt was a star panelist.

LADIESFUND was established in 2007 as an initiative to provide financial security to women and to promote and train women entrepreneurs based on the economic and social aspects of the local communities, with respect to greater women participation in the workforce. The press conference was well-attended by designers and models participating in the event as well as by the media.

The event was presided over by Shanaz Ramzi, GM Public Relations HUM Network Ltd who welcomed the guests, and announced that Pantene Bridal Couture Week by Style360 would be held at Hotel Pearl Continental from 15th to 16th October, 2011. Four shows would be held with 13 designers participating including those from India.

Vaneeza Ahmed then addressed the gathering and gave a briefing about the line-up of designers and models participating in the two-day event. Local designers in alphabetical order are Ali Xeeshan, Bina Sultan (BNS Couture), Fahad Hussain, Faheem Abbas, Gulzeb Asif, Kosain Kazmi, Mona Imran, Saba (La Chantal), Saba and Misbah (Hijab), Sadaf Arshad, Saira Rizwan, Shayinne Malik (SamanZar), and Shaziya Kiyani (Shaziya Bridal Gallery). A novel campaign was arranged by beauty and personal care brand Capri at Park Towers Karachi recently where people enjoyed a host of activities including pink pampering, beauty advice and guidance from beauty experts and more, all to create a Pink impact for those in attendance. The four day long activity was in line with the pink variant of Capri Soap that has been doing the rounds with media  personality, Ayesha Omar as its Brand Ambassador. With this activity, Capri gave the phrase “Paint the Town Pink” literal meaning by creating a unique experience for everyone in attendance. Aptly named, Pretty in Pink, the campaign commenced with a unique idea of giving out invitations for the activation through a vehicle based activity by driving around Karachi in a Capri Pink Car, which ladies, especially young girls who collected these and eagerly waited to visit the Capri Pink Lounge. Following the success and wide critical acclaim of their two previous weeks of fashion in Lahore [February 2010] and Karachi [November 2010], the Pakistan Fashion Design Council and Sunsilk are back in the cultural capital of Pakistan with their third PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week presenting luxury/prêt a porter fashion for the season.

PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week March/April 2011 will be showcasing 25 designers encompassing both the leading names from the industry and exciting emerging talents that the platform continuously aspires to promote through its platform. This season, PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week will be staged on the 29th, 31st and the 1st of April with no shows scheduled for the 30th of March given the significance of the country’s Cricket World Cup 2011 semi final match with India to be played the same day. [Lahore: 16 February 2010]  An exciting initiative by the Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) and Sunsilk, February 16th – 19th 2010 marks the debut of their first ever fashion week in Pakistan. PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week will be held in the historic city of Lahore and will feature 4 days of fashion by over 32 designers, encompassing both the leading names from the industry as well as emerging talents. Each day will feature 8 ramp shows with 8 distinct designers who will showcase 20 creations from their respective collections. The debut PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week will be styled and choreographed by the creative team at Sabs the Salon and managed by Catwalk Productions with Public Relations by Lotus.
