Aik Hunar Aik Nagar (AHAN) is a non- profit organization working under Ministry of industries and Production, Government of Pakistan (GoP). The concept of AHAN is based on OVOP (one village one product) model prevalent in Japan, Thailand and other far Eastern countries.
AHAN takes various initiatives for rural micro and small enterprise modernization, leading to creation and diversification of sustainable income earning opportunities. Through such initiatives AHAN provides support to poor producer groups, crafts persons and artisans by facilitating them in product development, quality assurance, marketing and technological up-gradation.
In January 2013, AHAN initiated “Northern Punjab Craft Development Project” in the area of Potohar, which is situated in northern Punjab. AHAN established 13 embroidery and stitching centers in the area where it has trained more than 500 artisans. These artisans have been given an opportunity for income generation through developing a collection and presenting it through an exhibition at Fashion Central Multi Brand Store under the guidance of fashion designers of AHAN.
The purpose of this exhibition is to showcase trendy hand embroidered outfits in the urban area of Lahore made by the rural artisans to show their creativity and to encourage them. 6 beautiful models show cased the outfits with a fashion walk while the red carpet was handled by super model NATTY.
